Hear the stories behind Austin’s most interesting and historic sites with Walk of the Town.

Choose from four different self-guided walking tours of the downtown Austin area including Sixth Street, the Capitol area, Congress Avenue, and the enclave of Victorian style homes known as the Bremond Block.

As you explore, our narrators will take you back in time with tales about Austin’s early inhabitants. In addition to details about the buildings themselves, you’ll hear about the figures, both big and small, who formed the backbone of this city.

You can choose to simply follow the audio directions without having to look at your phone, or get a deeper dive into each location with historic photos and additional stories within the app.

Your GPS will help guide you from stop to stop, with audio starting as you approach each location. Take your time to explore the sites and check out the historical plaques before progressing along to the next stop.
